“10 Little Things that Lead to a Happier, Healthier You as a Blogger”

I found this blogging program via TwitterMoms today and I thought that as a blogger I could come up with some ideas as to how to apply it to blogging. I mean you can’t blog if your worn out, stressed out and feeling like crap. So it is important to take care of yourself so you can give yourself the best you possible to your readers.

Here are 10 things I do to make sure I am at my healthiest and happiest.

  1. I listen to my body. When I feel a sore throat coming on, an ear ache, the slightest sniffle I decrease my soda intake and start drinking more orange juice. Orange Juice helps build up your immune system naturally. No I am not getting paid to even remotely say this it is the truth.
  2. I have been working more as of late to pay attention to how much rest I get. I can feel it if I don’t get enough sleep. I feel blah and I can’t focus.
  3. I now make sure I take my Zoloft every day. Used to be I would somehow forget to take it and I would feel like this weird tug of war going on inside my head and I could cope with things the way I can with it. I found that I can go about two day out at the most without it but generally can start to feel the effects as early as a day out.
  4. I am eating healthier than I used to say even four yrs ago. I pay attention to food labels more, eat leaner cuts of meat, limit fried foods and eat sweets in moderation.
  5. We all know that as a blogger it can get isolating then before you know it you have been sucked into this huge introverted vortex. I am making myself get out into the community and take part in community events in order to steer clear of that vortex. It is not a pleasant place sometimes.
  6. Connect with others that share your interests. I like art and the internet. Over the last few months I have thrust myself into both communities locally. I had taken for granted I think that there were those outlets here. I had gotten locked into the church, mom, errand rut.
  7. Speaking of church if your a spiritual person don’t forget to nurture that part of you. My faith has gotten me through some pretty hard times. My faith gives me something to believe in.
  8. Get out and move. Find something to get you up and moving and get your blood circulating. Better circulation leads to better heart health, lower blood pressure. I also do my best thinking on the treadmill, in the pool, walking outside to name a few things. With the weather getting warmer I can go to court here and shoot hoops outside.
  9. If you have a family make time for them. Read to your kids, sit outside if the weather is nice and talk with them. Find activities that you both enjoy doing together. Again the weather is getting warmer so I am going to make time to shoot hoops with my son and go to one of the smaller pools here in town.
  10. Last but certainly not least make time to read material that isn’t on the internet. Pick up a book at a bookstore or a magazine. From time to time read the print version of your local newspaper.

I hope this was inspiring and helpful to you.

I did try to go without meds for a long time and was in denial that I even had depression. Once I got on the Zoloft and it had a chance to get into my system I did feel a major difference and actually started to have a little more energy each day. I know that meds aren’t for everyone and they have to find what works for them. For me however Zoloft has been a God send.

Thank you for stopping by feel free to come back and say Hi once in awhile. I do have a contact form that you can use to do just that as well.

    Have a great day!

  2. I love this list. Thank you so much for sharing Joe. I’m not sure about the Zoloft one. I would replace that one with – listen to a song or piece of music I love everyday. It makes me feel great and puts me in a good mood.
