How to Upload Video from Your Android Phone

This is the easiest way I have found to upload videos from my Android Phone. I have the HTC Magic MyTouch 3G.

First I looked through my app store and got frustrated then I came across AndroLib.com that gave me the QR code to scan for an app called AutoMount. Simply scan the QR code, it will take you to the appropriate place in the app market install it and then go to the app settings and toggle on Enable SD Card Auto-Mounting. Then when you plug your phone into your PC it will read it like any other portable storage device.

I had some headaches trying to find a method to upload video as the file extension 3gpp more often than not needs to be converted to .wmp or .flv so I set up a free account over at Vimeo.com. After your set up simply select the video you want to upload from your phone. You will want to choose the folder that says DCIM. Vimeo then takes care of the file conversion for you. Now one thing I want to mention before you upload videos is when your shooting them with your phone and it is something you want others to take seriously ( I messed this up personally) to shoot video in landscape rather than portrait, shooting in portrait will make it look like everyone is on their sides when uploaded.

Unless your worried about the progress of the conversion processing you can wait for Vimeo to email you when your video is done.

Here is a video I shot at WU Tech Open House
