The Second Half of 2010 for Wildheart’s Web 2.0

2010 Just seems to have flew by! At the start of it I began the year having to take things in another direction with my blogging and I will be honest I was skeptical I could run with the big boys where blogging about Internet related topics was concerned. I really didn’t think I could hold my own especially on the mobile end of the spectrum. However, once again I proved to myself that I can run with the pack when it comes to saturated niche’s.

On the mobile front my two posts “How to Upload Video from Your Android Phone” and “Just a Few of My Favorite Android Apps” finished rather strong in the end of the first half of 2010. On the local front that was even more daunting because I tell people that I had to go away and then come back home so to speak in terms of getting experience. So there was this huge doubt that I would be taken as seriously by the local crowd as I had become with the international folks out there. My post on “What Topeka Can Learn from Rural Communities” ended up being my highest hit post and “Topeka Accepts the Chinese Friendship Lantern Light Sculpture” also did very well.

I met one goal of being able to go to one local conference related to my niche when I got to go to The Developer Designer Workflow Conference in Kansas City Missouri this past June. I also loosely attended the Free State Social as I had to pay to attend the live streaming broadcast since I couldn’t afford the whole two days.

I tried to attempt two challenges this year. One was successful and that was Sarah Robinson’s 30 Days to Changing Your Game challenge and I also tried to do the 30 Day Blog Challenge. I think the reason that the last one didn’t really work well for me is because I am not one to churn out content on a daily basis. I can’t short cut it when it comes to writing either.  I have to do well thought out writing, sometimes laborious research, and proper formatting. I also go through a tedious process of making sure that either folks, events, places are linked accordingly.

Things that are ongoing which I am involved in locally are my cities efforts to bring Google fiber to our community. I am also helping out with Recycle Runway Topeka Fashion Show, working on a project for Gary Blitcsh out at Southwind Gallery. Additionally I am taking a major interest in the NOTO Arts District. I am also involved in a few other projects as well.

One last thing is that I have finally decided on a direction for my company. In the second half of 2010 I will be working on a business plan to make Wildheart Social Media Enterprises a reality.

So those are my positives. Things that I still need to work on in light of the fact that there are more and more opportunities opening themselves up for me is time management. I really need to sit down at the end of the night each night and see what I have in front of me for the following day and make a to do list for my business.

I have a few more highlights from the last six months that I will sprinkle in here and there throughout the month of July.
