Topeka Accepts the Chinese Friendship Lantern Light Sculpture (raw unedited footage)

Tuesday June 15th was an historic time for the city of Topeka Kansas as delegates representing  China presented our city with The Friendship Lantern Light Sculpture.  Ralph Hip emceed the live broadcast of the event held next to Henderson Hall at Washburn University. The statue symbolizes the peaceful diplomatic relations that we have enjoyed with China since around 1979.

The thing that struck me was the use of sunflowers, the American Flag and the China flag to represent a melding of not only two nations but also one nations heartland. This was the first international event covered by yours truly of Wildheart’s Web 2.0. It was an honor and a privilege to be able to attend this ceremony. These are things that make me proud to be not only an American but a native Kansan as well.

Please enjoy the video coverage it is in two parts as once again I used only the camcorder on my Android phone and I have it set to record 30 minutes of footage at a time. This is raw unedited coverage. I got great sound, speakers came out just a tad dark. I had the best spot in the paparazzi pool tho as you can tell from where I was at in relation to the podium.
